- What is Music Together® - Music for Living...Music for Life

                    WHAT IS MUSIC TOGETHER?

Music Together is a music and movement approach to early childhood music development for children and their parents, teachers, and other caregivers.

Originally offered in 1987, Music Together pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.

Did you know that children respond most to those with whom they have a bond of attachment? They learn directly from the modeling of their primary caregivers.

Regardless of your own musical ability, your participation shows your child that music is fun and safe to explore.  We create an environment that is musically rich and accessible to children and adults!

                   WHY IS MUSIC IMPORTANT?

Music affects us in so many ways.
It can help us relax, become energized, or feel able to focus.  It touches our hearts    and brings us closer to each other.

              Music learning supports all learning.

Music has a tremendous power, early in life, to support the developing child in all his growing capacities.  It forges unique connections in the brain, integrating mind, body, and emotions.

Participating in musical activities supports language development, cognitive growth, emotional growth, social growth, and physical development.

45 minute classes are held weekly for 6-12 children of mixed ages and their parents or caregivers.  Siblings can attend at a reduced cost.  Semesters run for 10 weeks, with a new song collection introduced each semester.  Each collection includes new songs, chants, movement activities and instrumental jam sessions.  Children and adults join in the circle and participate, regardless of musical ability!  Families receive a CD set and illustrated songbook to continue activities at home, and can purchase instruments from the national website.

For Younger Children

At the Studio

In addition to parent/child classes for typically developing children, musicwithmindy  offers parent/family/child classes adapted for children who have special needs.
Open to caregivers and/or every member of the family at no extra cost, these classes  continue the non-performance-oriented approach and Music Together curriculum in a therapeutic setting.  The Music Therapist and parent or caregiver work together to maximize the participation and benefit to each child.  Siblings may also attend these classes for family fun.  Class size will be limited to 4 atypical children (ages 1-12), depending on their individual needs.

These classes are presently held at Music With Mindy LearningStudio, 125-5 Main St., Mooresville, NC.  Please click ADAPTIVE Class Enrollment for information and registration form.
